The Higher Education Training and Development Unit which was part of the University Teaching and Learning Portfolio has been reconfigured and effective January 1, 2018, its staff has been integrated in the School of Education in the Cluster of Education and Development Studies.

The aim of this module is to enable higher education practitioners to align and integrate workplace professional and administrative service activities with the key functions of higher education. Participants will develop an understanding of the role of administration in higher education, and how this contributes to the successful attainment of higher education objectives and goals.

The module will cover material such as:

Exploration of the components of a higher education institution of choice, with a focus on administrative components that support this

Student pre-entry professional services (access, enrolment, recruitment, and orientation of students)
Student engagement and exit professional services (retention and throughput)
Finance and higher education
Resourcing, infrastructure, and technology in higher education
Excellence, quality and professional services
