UKZN Induction Programme

The Higher Education Training and Development Unit which was part of the University Teaching and Learning Portfolio has been reconfigured and effective January 1, 2018, its staff has been integrated in the School of Education in the Cluster of Education and Development Studies.

Higher Education Studies works in close liason with the University Teaching and Learning Office and forms its Higher Education Training and Development (HETD)  unit. As such it is integrally involved in staff enrichment processes like the UKZN Induction programme. 

The UKZN Induction programme is designed to assist staff increase their awareness of teaching and learning possibilities and the UKZN learning environment in particular. It meets the needs of the Integrated Talent Management Policy which states:  

Extract from the UKZN Integrated Talent Management Policy (7.3.1.2)  

"The University Education Induction Programme is compulsory for ALL new academic employees and those currently on lecturer level and below. This induction programme must be completed by all staff within a maximum 4-year period (minimum 20 hours or one module per annum).

The programme consists of four short non-credit bearing courses of 20 hours each offered in a variety of modes:

You can also fulfill the requirements in other ways such as doing particular modules from either the PGDHE or Higher Education Masters programme
