Teaching and Learning in Higher Education

The Higher Education Training and Development Unit which was part of the University Teaching and Learning Portfolio has been reconfigured and effective January 1, 2018, its staff has been integrated in the School of Education in the Cluster of Education and Development Studies.

The university’s mission prioritises academic excellence, innovative research and critical engagement with society. This Course focuses on academic excellence and targets, in particular, the institution’s fourth goal, namely: To promote excellence in teaching and learning through creative and innovative … pedagogical strategies.

Participants in this course will be able to

Identify learning styles and a range of teaching strategies
Describe and critically evaluate their own teaching and learning ideologies and practices
Propose and rationalise changes to current teaching and learning practices in their own disciplines or workplaces, and
Develop appropriate teaching and learning materials.
