The Higher Education Training and Development Unit which was part of the University Teaching and Learning Portfolio has been reconfigured and effective January 1, 2018, its staff has been integrated in the School of Education in the Cluster of Education and Development Studies.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education (PGDHE) is a part time, two year programme which consists of 8 modules offered at an honours level. The entry requirement is an honours level or equivalent. There are 3 core modules:

Higher Education context and policy 16 credits
Researching in Higher Education 16 credits
Practice, reflection and portfolio development in Higher Education 16 credits

and five elective modules chosen from the list below:

Diversity and the Student in Higher Education 16 credits
Designing and evaluating curricula in Higher Education 16 credits
Teaching and learning in Higher Education 16 credits
Assessing learning in Higher Education 16 credits
Technology for Higher Education pedagogy 16 credits
Supervising Research in Higher Education 16 credits
or any other Education-related module from another academic or disciplinary programme
