The Higher Education Training and Development Unit which was part of the University Teaching and Learning Portfolio has been reconfigured and effective January 1, 2018, its staff has been integrated in the School of Education in the Cluster of Education and Development Studies.

The aim of this module is to enable higher education practitioners to develop a theoretical, historical and projective perspective on the purposes, roles and functions of student services in African higher education. The module will also aim to equip participants with the skills to bring into effect appropriate research-led programmes and services in this sector of higher education.

Purposes, functions and roles of students services in higher education
Theories and practices of student services
Current issues, challenges, ethics and values affecting student services
Student learning and the institution
Diversity, multiculturalism and inclusivity
